Home Remedies For Dry Skin In Winter Months - Healthy Lifestyle Journal
With the coming of winter comes the annoying scratching of dry skin so I thought it would be a good idea to share some home remedies for dry skin in winter months. I know if I do not take care of my hands they become so dry and cracked that every time I scratch them they would bleed.
There are many ways to keep protect your skin from the winter months, and the sooner you start the easier it is to be successful. If you wait until your hands for example are already dry and cracking you will find it near impossible to get them back in the shape they should be in.
What can I do?
There are many ways to keep this from happening.
One home remedy is to wash your hands in warm, not hot water before bed and apply petroleum jelly generously for about 10 minutes to keep the skin well oiled so to speak. You can put on a pair of cotton gloves to make it even better.
Another way to keep your skin moist is by using lotion. Pick natural lotions and use them up to six times a day and make sure you rub them in well.
Good old olive oil comes to the rescue again! Mix olive oil with warm water and soak your hands in it before bed for about 10 minutes and you will keep them from getting dry and cracked.
Dr. Oz has a great way of keeping your skin nice and supple!
1 cup Sea Salt
2 cups Olive Oil
5 drops Lemon Essential Oil
5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Mix it well and soak your hands and feet in it, it works!
Almond oil or mineral oil for massaging works to keep and replace the oil in your hands. Everyone loves a hand massage!
Here is one of my favorite! Mix 1 tablespoon of baby oil with two tablespoons of mayonnaise and soak your hands or feet for about 15 minutes. It smells great! :)
If you want to soften your hands rub a mixture of honey and water into your hands and let it soak in for about 10 minutes then rinse off. I dare you not to taste it!
