5 Possible Points To Consider Before Deciding To Have A Baby - Healthy Lifestyle Journal
Point # 1
Many may think it a responsibility, at least for the next 18 years to feed, develop, grow, nurture, look after a baby until that child grows and matures into an adult who is capable of looking after themselves. The alternative argument could be it is not that you have to have a baby, you want a baby who you can love, nurture and cherish. Your child, in a sense, is merely an extension of yourself.
Point # 2
You may well ask yourself why go through the pain and discomfort of pregnancy, it is no laughing matter as anyone having gone through it will tell you. Yet from another perspective for those who are struggling to have a child, it may be argued in your decision there is no other option to comprehend even if it means going through the heartache and distress to be able to get pregnant in the first place. Being able to go full term and feel blessed and grateful to have a baby would supercede any discomfort or pain.
Point # 3
Where applicable, smoking and whether or not you should stop. Some might argue they have been smoking for sometime with no apparent impact on their health, so why stop now?
We all know of the debilitating effects of smoking and what it can do upon the body, your unborn child will be encased in toxins and other pollutants. It will have to fight when in fact it should be receiving essential nutrients from the mother in order to fight for its survival and the development of vital organs.
Point # 4
Passive smoking, though still smoking, this is more an external issue than an internal one. Neither would progress the health of your child in the slightest. If being a smoker, this may possibly be your biggest challenge as to whether or not you can stop this habit, should you wish to do so in the first place. Then understandably so, there is a vast degree of difference between wanting to and actually being able to.
Point # 5
Will you have to eat for two? This is a well known phrase to which my question would be are you going to be eating for two or too many? Giving your child the essential nutrients it needs is paramount during the 9 months of labor and your senses may be heightened with the added fear of what you should or should not be eating. However, the three months before conception are paramount in order to increase your chances of conceiving as well as the period after birth. If you cannot lift, eat, walk, are constantly out of breath, tired, lethargic what chance do you have of looking after your new born who is at their most needy and vulnerable stage?

Putting emotions aside there are also the financial implications to all of this. It may be argued it is simply too expensive raising one child, let alone more, with mounting costs, food bills, energy bills, clothing, buggies, cots, baby sitter fees, education, university fees the list, it would seem, is endless. Whether it is your decision to have a baby yet or not, the opposing view is you can put a monetary value on say a car, a house, a holiday but no amount of money can compare to a child they are simply priceless.
